New Site Live – Marisa Peer
I’m delighted to announce I’ve just relaunched a new website for Marisa Peer – the therapist to the stars.
Seriously, Marisa is one of the world’s top hypnotherapists who has worked with celebrities (and normal people like me) all over the world.
She is best known for weight loss, and has appeared on TV’s “Supersize vs Superskinny” among lots of other appearances. In fact, her method was the only one that was agreed to have been effective for long-term weight loss on that show. (I can confirm that, because I attended a seminar with Marisa in London last November, and lost 14lb in 30 days.)
Marisa also has solutions for quitting smoking, freedom from phobias etc.
But the most amazing thing has to be Marisa’s record in treating infertility through hypnosis!
Star Treatment that You Can Download
While most of us will never be able to afford one-on-one therapy with someone of Marisa Peer’s calibre, the great thing about the hypnotherapy is that it works really well as audio programmes.
Plus, with hypnosis sessions recorded as MP3 or CDs, you can listen to them over and over again (without paying a therapist each time).
So you can actually download full hypnosis treatment programmes to help you…

Hi Ben, site looking good. Got a couple of Marisa’s books and know of her good reputation. Ian Marber is excellent too.
It’s an effective site and gets the job done, but the font choice and line spacing could be better . . . This link is a big help: http://www.pearsonified.com/typography/
Cool, doesn’t look like a full-on Ben site yet tho. Will be interesting to see how it develops to optimise conversions from that market.
Thanks MDW. Any website that isn’t work in progress is dead. I’ve launched as soon as it was better than what was there before, and we’ll polish from here.
Hi Ben,
I’m a great admirer of your tutorials and your work in general. But Marisa Peer website has some issues which you might have overlooked.
One glaring issue – the font faces and sizes are inconsistent. And the home page content layout doesn’t fall into a proper grid/placement, so it’s not immediately appealing to eyes.
Just thought the comments are helpful, and meant to be constructive. But other than this, the site looks good.
Keep up your great work!
- Mouli
Thanks Mouli. If I find it negatively impacts the user experience, I’ll standardise the typography.
Well, to be honest, it doesn’t look very professional to me. Others have already mentioned the inconsistency in fonts and spacing. But the whole design and layout looks rather crude and amateuristic. It looks more like a quickly thrown together landing page to me, than an appealing site made by a pro web designer. I’m sorry, but I’m not impressed at all.
I disagree with Hank and think the use of capitals and spacing draws you to the middle of the page which is where the honey is but in a subtle way.. I skipped the header and navbar and start reading what she offers. Thats the object of any site and a good example of what all web designers should do……Cut the Crap…. Anything that gets in the way of what you want to say, get rid of it..
Hi Ben,
I like this new site!!!
I think it’s very effective and user’s attention goes where it must to go.
I think colors combinations are good and well tuned with contents and I like the links blocks of “Find out how…” , they catch the eyes of the user.
About fonts: maybe just a bit more of inline-height in the main column.
very nice work !!!
Nick
I think it goes a fair way to “doing the job” (bearing in mind the only “job” of the site I can really have a go at guessing is telling potential consumers of her services that they are likely in the right place, and cutting to the chase beyond that…).
Obviously it’s a work in progress and I assume it’ll be losing the comments form on the home page. This looks like it’s in there to fill out the whitespace created in the main content area by the links to articles in the narrower right-hand content pane. But as time goes by, I suppose you could stick some testimonials in there or something
As for the fonts, I think some of the criticism is a little bit harsh. The typeface isn’t *ugly* — in fact it’s easily readable and I wasn’t at all distracted by typeface issues when I read through the home page (and this was before I read the comments on this article).
But it’s optimised insofar as it tells you what the *offer* is (and who the *offer* comes from) right up top in the navigation bar, as well as some visual and emotive triggers immediately below to back it up.
Excellent feedback, thanks Stuart.
Hey Ben great to see that even the celeb’s need a talented Web Designer like yourself. The headline is great-asking a question gets the visitor to think and interact.
The images answer the main headline question, very powerful. Take away the text and the images tell a story. A very good website redesign in my opinion
Hi Ben
Always wanted to ask you this…
Usually, how many iterations of designs do you go through before it is finalized. And…
How long does it take (in hours)to finalize a website design for your client?
Cheers.
Great questions Naresh.
1. How many iterations? Hopefully one!! If not one, as many as it takes. But I train my clients carefully to treat the process with respect.
2. How long does it take? Anything from a couple of hours to a couple of days. If we’re just talking about the primary design.
